Sometimes a tooth cannot be restored and must be removed.
At our dental office, extractions are one of the many dental services we provide to protect your oral health and keep your smile strong.
When a tooth is broken or has significant decay, the ideal solution is to restore it using a filling, crown, or other procedure. If restoration is not possible or advisable due to the condition of the tooth, an extraction may be recommended to prevent infection and achieve or maintain oral health. Every recommendation reflects personalized care, based on what's truly best for your smile and long-term well being.
Most extractions can be performed with the use of local anesthesia to numb the area around the tooth, so patient comfort stays a priority throughout the procedure. The tooth is then gently loosened and removed. Immediately after the tooth is removed, gauze pads are placed for the patient to bite down on the tooth socket to apply pressure and stop bleeding. Stitches are sometimes needed and may dissolve or require removal at a follow-up visit. Our goal is always to keep any pain or discomfort to a minimum while taking care of your teeth and gums.
Extractions are sometimes needed for wisdom teeth that are impacted, crowded, or causing pain. If an extraction leaves you with missing teeth, our doctor can discuss replacement options such as dental implants, bridges, or crowns to help restore function and your smile.
Our team is dedicated to providing a welcoming environment where patients feel confident and comfortable, backed by our doctor's expertise and commitment to quality care.
